Ginger snaps are a popular cookie enjoyed by many during the holidays. For those on the keto diet, these cookies can be a delicious and guilt-free treat!
It is typically made with molasses, ginger, and spices. They are popular in the United States and Canada, and their flavor is often described as being similar to gingerbread.
Made with a few simple ingredients, keto ginger snaps are easy to make and can be enjoyed by the whole family. Ground ginger, cinnamon, and allspice give these cookies their characteristic flavor, while a sugar-free sweetener keeps them keto-friendly.
Keto Ginger Snaps History
The history of ginger snaps is unclear, but it is believed that they originated in the United Kingdom. molasses was introduced to the British Isles by the Romans, and ginger was brought to Europe from Asia by the Spice Trade. It is possible that ginger snaps were created by combining these two ingredients.
The traditional ingredients in ginger snaps are molasses, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Most recipes also call for flour, baking soda, and butter.
There are many variations of ginger snaps, including those that are made with brown sugar, honey, or maple syrup instead of molasses. Some recipes also add chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruit.
Ginger snaps have a number of health benefits, including the fact that they can help to settle an upset stomach and relieve nausea. The ginger in the cookies can also help to boost circulation and relieve pain.
Ginger snaps can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
Whether you enjoy them as a snack or as a dessert, keto ginger snaps are a delicious way to enjoy the holidays!Print
