Paneer – 200 gms (cubed)

Onion – 1 (finely chopped)

Garlic paste – 1 tsp

Ginger paste – 1 tsp

Green chilies – 2 (finely chopped)

Tomato sauce – 2 tbsp

Soya sauce – 1 tbsp

Vinegar – 1 tbsp

Red chilli powder – 1 tsp

Salt to taste

Oil – 2 tbsp

Water – as required

For the dough:

All-purpose flour (Maida) – 1 cup

Water – as required

Salt to taste

Oil – 1 tsp


1. To make the dough, mix together all the ingredients in a bowl and knead to a soft dough. Keep aside.

2. Heat oil in a pan and add the onions, green chillies, garlic and ginger paste.

3. Saute for a few minutes and then add the paneer cubes.

4. Cook for 2-3 minutes and then add the tomato sauce, soya sauce, vinegar, red chilli powder and salt.

5. Cook for 2-3 minutes more and then remove from heat.

6. Take small balls of the dough and roll out into thin discs.

7. Place a spoonful of the paneer filling in the centre of each disc and fold the edges to form a momo.

8. Steam in a steamer for 10-12 minutes.

9. Serve hot with chilli sauce or chutney.
